Apple tree: hard and heavy wood, in red fruit varieties, heartwood colored dark, red-chocolate brown, sapwood on average half the trunk width, light beige, flesh-colored. Light apple fruit varieties have at most slightly pinkish heartwood. Contrast drawing, homogeneous, contours of individual grain rings slightly visible, wavy. A very decorative material, hard and mechanically durable, but quite unstable, prone to warping and cracking, and not very resistant to moisture and biological corrosion. It blends perfectly with Pear, quite well with Plum and light wood without a indistinct grain pattern, such as Beech, Birch or Maple.
